Divorce Coaching

Turn your divorce into the stepping stone to your next version:
stronger, clearer, more decisive.

Starts Thursday, November 19th 2026

You don’t have to figure this out alone.

Divorce is a legal process. Living through one is deeply personal. Sarzana Hasin Zafar is a divorce and relationship coach in Toronto who helps people move through separation with steadiness instead of overwhelm.
She holds a professional trauma certificate from Wilfrid Laurier University and draws on Internal Family Systems, Schema Therapy principles, and nervous-system practices. Coaching sits alongside your lawyer and therapist. It focuses on your decisions, your boundaries, and what comes next.

Questions, answered

You built a life with someone; maybe even a future. And now it’s over, or uncertain.
The ground gives way, the mirror cracks, and you’re left wondering who you even are.
At PowerShift, we help you reconnect with the person underneath the heartbreak.
Our work is about movement from grief to grounding, from confusion to clarity, from self-doubt to self-trust.

What is Divorce Coaching?

Divorce is a legal process. Living through one is deeply personal.

Every year, hundreds of thousands of people navigate divorce—approximately 37–40% of Canadian marriages and 600,000+ U.S. couples take this step annually.

Behind every statistic is a person navigating grief, uncertainty, identity shifts, difficult decisions, and—especially in high-conflict situations—the exhaustion of constantly bracing for what comes next.

You built a life with someone—had an entire future planned together.

And now it’s over, or suspended in painful uncertainty, and you’re left wondering who you even are on the other side.

Trauma-Informed Divorce Coaching gives you a grounded space to process what you’re experiencing while staying focused on what comes next.

Together, we work through the emotional weight, clarify what matters, strengthen your decision-making, and develop the strategy you need to navigate divorce with greater stability and intention.

Divorce coaching helps you navigate the human experience of divorce—so you can make clear decisions, reclaim your sense of self, and rebuild a life you are proud of.

We work through:

  • Clarity: Understanding what happened, what is happening now, and where you are going next.

  • Regulation: Mapping your emotions, reactions, and patterns so you can respond with calm, strategic intention.

  • Legalities: Getting organized and clear on priorities to use attorney time efficiently and reduce legal fees, if lawyers are involved.

  • Awareness: Recognizing coping mechanisms (like alcohol, sex, or distraction) so you can process pain without numbing it.

  • Grieving: Processing the multi-layered grief of losing a partner, a shared future, and a familiar life without letting the loss consume your forward momentum.

  • Boundaries: Making difficult decisions while navigating high-conflict communication and establishing unshakeable boundaries (with self, and others).

  • Healing: Managing the psychological impact of separation and protecting your emotional bandwidth.

  • Unpacking: Deconstructing who you were in the marriage, and rebuilding an identity rooted entirely in your own values.

  • Rebuilding: Creating a clear vision for what comes next so you can design a future you actually want to live in.

  • “I've had counselling sessions post-divorce, from multiple places. While it was helpful to have a space to talk about my trauma,
it does not compare to how liberating it felt to speak to Sarzana, and in her Divorce Recovery Group Sessions.

    S.K.,
    London, UK

  • “Sarzana, you’ve made this space feel like home. I’ve felt so heard and understood in a way I haven’t in a really long time. You have this way of showing up with so much care, it honestly feels like you are a sister guiding us through all of this. And the connection I’ve felt with the other group members has been so genuine too.”

    E.B.,
    Mississauga, Canada

  • “Sarzana provides support, direction, and encouragement while allowing room for expression of emotions in non-judgemental environment.  This course has helped me in developing a hope and vision for my future.”

    G.A.,
    Toronto, Canada

  • “Each session had a topic related to releasing and recovering from the trauma caused by the divorce. The sessions were divided into different sections. At the end of the sessions, I always felt lighter even if I felt heavy at the beginning.”

    S.K.,
    London, UK

  • “This course has been very beneficial to help with organizing my thoughts and making sense of the variety of emotions during a separation/divorce.

I really liked the systematic breaking down of each topic. It was easier to process, especially given how stressful the transition can be.”

Land Acknowledgment

At PowerShift, we believe healing begins with awareness — of ourselves, our stories, and the land we stand upon.

As we come together to support one another through life’s transitions, we honour the importance of community, connection, and belonging.

PowerShift is based in what is now known as Ontario, Canada, on lands that form part of the Treaty Lands and Territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, as well as the traditional territories of the Anishinaabe, Haudenosaunee, Huron-Wendat, and Métis peoples. This region is part of the Dish With One Spoon Wampum Belt Covenant — an agreement to share and care for the resources around the Great Lakes in peace and mutual respect.

We acknowledge the enduring presence and wisdom of Indigenous peoples across these lands and around the world. Their teachings remind us of balance, renewal, and right relationship —
values that guide our collective work. In that same spirit, PowerShift Collective is committed to fostering inclusive, compassionate, and respectful healing spaces wherever they may be, on the path toward empowerment and new beginnings.
